The GOOSE PIT ART SHOPPE

On January 1st 2006, The Goose Pit completed the remodeling project and added an Art studio to the PIT!  We currently have over 90 pictures that are custom framed and on display.  Original art work consists of scenes from the Goose's deep sea fishing trips to the Atlantic and Pacific oceans as well as my many trips to the Keys and exploring of the Gulf.  As my fishing  guide one day in Key West once exclaimed, as I released a barracuda back into the flats, "You know - without a picture - that one will only be a story!"  It was from that experience of missing a great picture to go along with another fishing story that the concept of a picture and story was born.

Each image is displayed in a custom hand- made Bamboo Frame for the coastal / tropical  images and  the Midwest/Mountain scenes are displayed in a rustic hand made pine or cedar frame.  All art work in reasonably priced and as a bonus you will get a story of why and how this picture came about.  Sometimes it is the story that inspires the image, and sometimes it is the picture that becomes a story.  I hope you enjoy the complete experience of "the whole story" behind the picture from the artist and writer.

My first story was "Hope in the Fall" and published in the South Dakota Duck Unlimited newsletter and that got me started and interested in writing, which is a story about my father published back in 2001.  Since then I had been writing small stories but had no outlet for them until I took up painting and for those who know me - it is my spelling that sometimes will make you wonder - does he have spell check?.  For more information go to About Jamie "Goose" Voigt.

"Sand, Starfish and Small Treasures"

December 23, 2006
By Jamie "Goose" Voigt

What seems like just yesterday,
but yet we both know was decades ago -
I still posses that curiosity of your little boy
dreaming and digging in the sand for  lost treasures.

Yes, that same is still here today -
just seems like now I 'm always on the go,
but still looking for some lost toy
that recalls one of my childhood pleasures.

Just like back then, but now in a different way -
a little wiser now as you know
only because of the lessons you taught me of how to enjoy
life's simple pleasures and treasurers.

So when you are wondering every once in a while or even today,
Of what your little boy is thinking, dreaming or about to go
just look into this picture of a moment of childhood joy
that your boy still find life's small treasures.
